New Sculptural Glass October 30 - December 4
Opening reception Sunday, October 30, 1-5pm (return to exhibition)

The Ironwood Gallery celebrates its move to 103 Danbury Road in Copps Hill Common with a spectacular group exhibition of sculptural glass. Fifteen accomplished American glass artists were invited to participate in the show, which opened October 30 and runs through December 4. A variety of innovative techniques in kilnformed glass, as well as carved and blown hot glass, and textured sand cast glass are available for purchase.

Seven important works by Concetta Mason, whose work can be found in 27 museums worldwide, form the centerpiece of the exhibition. Delores Taylor's "Squeeze Play" is a delightful narrative piece with a snake curling around the heel of a glass shoe made of pate de verre. Timeless architectural themes are evident in Martin Kremer's kilnformed "Tenement", Gilles Payette's sand cast "melting buildings" and Nancy Nicholson's stained glass tributes to Brooklyn streets. Elizabeth Mears explores large scale wall mounted bundles of clear glass twigs wrapped in patinated copper.

Hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10am to 6pm, Thursday til 8pm and Sunday noon to 5pm. Call 203-431-3388 for more information.
